AI in the notch: why the interface is part of the model experience

A capable assistant becomes more useful when it is placed where the user already works.

AI in the notch: why the interface is part of the model experience

The product question

IslandIQ explores what happens when AI lives in a native macOS surface instead of a separate browser tab. The product brings screenshot vision, persistent chat, media controls, and system actions into an always-available interface.

A system, not a prompt box

The experience connects provider support, image conversations, global shortcuts, and operating-system integrations. That means the product surface has to handle state, permissions, feedback, and the small details that make an assistant feel present without becoming distracting.

The takeaway

AI product design is not only prompt design. The best interface gives the model the right context, gives the user a clear action, and makes the result easy to verify or continue.
